Another year is almost over... and Covid is still here!
I decided not to put any PPE on Santa this year and went a little more graphic to keep it light-hearted.
My approach was fairly straight forward, and of course I used the computer to help put it together quickly. The first step was a quick pencil
drawing on 8.5" x 11" card stock. Step 2, I scanned in the pencil drawing, evened out the values to a consistent tone, dropped the opacity to 40%,
then printed the image onto card stock.
I actually printed out two copies, just in case (which always takes away the stress associated with messing up with a blob of ink or bad decisions).
I inked up the print with a sharpie, and scanned it again for colouring.
You'll see that I've changed the final version, removing the spaces from around the soul patch (it was too distracting).
I used Krita to do the colouring: by adding a layer beneath the inked scan, quickly painting it up with my drawing tablet.
The final step was to export the painted image, rotate it and set up a layout for my 5"x7" cards. My background is mainly in web based design, so I tend to forget there is such a thing a CMYK colour space. As a result of this oversite, I had to make a few changes due to the difference between RGB and CMYK colour space. I printed out my finals, dropped in some greetings and took a walk down to the local post office. And that is that. Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!
